أصدرت هذه الفتوى من قبل الشيخ محمد عبده ردا على سؤال عن نفقة علاج الولد وإذا كان الأب مكلفا شرعا أو قانونا بنفقات علاج ولده. أجاب الشيخ بأن الأب ملزم بجميع نفقات علاج الطفل الذي لم يبلغ سن البلوغ. أما بالنسبة للولد الكبير، فيكون الأب ملزما بنفقات علاجه إذا كان عاجزا عن الكسب أو طالب علم لا يتفرغ لكسب المال.

This fatwa was issued by Sheikh Muhammad Abduh in response to a question asked about treatment expenses of one’s son, and whether the father was obliged by sharia or law to pay for these expenses. The Sheikh replied that the father is obliged to pay for all treatment expenses of his son who has not yet reached the age of puberty. As for older sons, the father is obliged to pay for treatment expenses if the son is unable to provide for himself or if he is a student and does not have the time to work and provide for himself.
