ينقسم هذ الكتاب إلى قسمين. يحتوى القسم الأول على خمسة فصول وتتناول الخلية ودورها في الوراثة، مواصفات المادة الوراثية، الهندسة الوراثية في النباتات والحيوانات والبيئة، بالإضافة إلى مصالح ومفاسد الهندسة الوراثية. ثم تتناول هذه الفصول العلاج الجيني والحكم الشرعي له، إختيار جنس الجنين والحكم الشرعي له، والإستنساخ النباتي والحيواني. القسم الثاني ينقسم إلى فصلين. الفصل الأول يتناول البصمة الوراثية في الفقه الإسلامي ومشروع الجينوم البشري، ومدى مشروعية إستخدام البصمة الوراثية في إثبات أو نفي النسب وفي الجرائم. الفصل الثاني يناقش الفحص الطبي قبل الزواج والآراء المؤيدة والمعارضة له.
Abstract Translated
This book divides into two parts. There are five chapters in the first part which deal with cells and their role in genetics, the characteristics of genes, genetic engineering in plants, animals and the environment, in addition to the risks and benefits of genetic engineering. These chapters then deal with gene therapy and the legal rulings pertaining to it, sex pre-selection and the legal rulings pertaining to it, and plant and animal cloning. The second part consists of two chapters. The first chapter deals with DNA fingerprinting in Islamic jurisprudence, the Human Genome Project, and the extent of legitimacy of using DNA fingerprinting in proving or negating paternity and in crime. The second chapter discusses pre-marital screening and the opinions for and against it.
