يتكون هذا الكتاب من ثلاثة أبواب عن الإرادة في العمل الطبي. الباب الأول يتناول مبدأ إحترام إرادة المريض والأسس الأخلاقية والقانونية لهذا المبدأ. يناقش أيضا جهل المرضى كأساس للهيمنة الطبية وحرية المريض بإختيار أطبائه. ثم يتناول موضوع معصومية جسم الإنسان كأساس للإلتزام بإحترام إرادة المريض بالإضافة إلى تبصير المريض والمراحل المتعلقة بالتبصير. الباب الثاني يبحث في المشكلات التي يثيرها الإلتزام بإحترام إرادة المريض. يناقش أيضا أسباب رفض العلاج من قبل المريض ودور القضاء في تشديد الإلتزام بإحترام إرادة المريض، التبصير والإفضاء في مجال التجارب الطبية في القانون الكويتي والمصري بالأخص. ثم يتناول تشديد الإلتزام بالإفضاء في مجال الإجهاض وإستقطاع الأعضاء، والوضع القانوني لتغيير الجنس والتعقيم الغير علاجي وجراحات التجميل. الباب الثالث يناقش النتائج المترتبة على مبدأ إحترام إرادة المريض. يتناول دور الأقارب في الرضاء بالأعمال الطبية عن المريض والرضاء عن القصر والتعارض بين إرادة الطبيب وإرادة الأقارب. ثم يتناول هذا الباب الخطأ الطبي وصوره والخطأ في مرحلة التبصير والمسئولية الجنائية والمدنية.

This book consists of three sections on will in medical practice. The first section deals with the concept of patients’ will and the ethical and legal basis of this concept. It also discusses the ignorance of patients as the basis of medical hegemony and the right of patients to choose their physicians. It then deals with the subject of the inviolability of the human body as a basis for committing to respecting the patients’ will, in addition to informed consent and its stages. The second section searches into the problems that are raised from committing to respecting the will of the patient. It also discusses the reasons behind treatment refusal by the patient and the role of court in emphasizing commitment to respecting patients’ will, informed consent and disclosure in medical experimentation in Kuwaiti and Egyptian law in particular. It then focuses on committing to disclosure in the fields of abortion, organ extraction and the legal situation for sex change, non-therapeutic sterilization and cosmetic surgery. The third section discusses the implications of the concept of respecting the patients’ will. It deals with the role of relatives in consent for medical work on behalf of the patient, and consent on behalf of minors, and the clash between the will of the physicians and the will of the relatives. This section then deals with medical errors and its forms, error in the process of informed consent and criminal and civil liability.
