يستعرض هذا المقال نقاشات وفتاوى فقهاء الإسلام القدماء والمعاصرين حول المخدرات والمشروبات الكحولية. كما تمت الإشارة إلى الآثار المدمرة لتناول هذه المواد على المجتمع كما وردت في تقارير حكومية أمريكية وأوروبية. ويخلص المؤلف إلى القول بأنه يجب فرض الحظر التام على كل من المخدرات والمسكرات في الدول الإسلامية.

This article reviews the discussions and fatwas of early and contemporary Muslim jurists on narcotic drugs and alcoholic beverages. Reference is also made to the damaging effects of partaking these substances on society as recorded in American and European governmental reports. The author concludes that both narcotic drugs and alcoholic beverages must be strictly forbidden in Muslim countries.
