تم تقديم هذا البحث إلى المؤتمر العالمي الرابع عن الطب الإسلامي المنعقد في الكويت خلال الفترة 9-13 نوفمبر1986. يناقش هذا البحث قضية زواج الأقارب آخذا في الاعتبار المعلومات العلمية التي يقدمها علم الوراثة والمعلومات الدينية التي تقدمها الأحاديث النبوية. ويخلص الكاتب إلى القول بأن زواج الأقارب، من حيث المبدأ، لا ينبغي النظر إليه على أنه أمر ضار من الناحية العلمية أو أمر مكروه من الوجهة الإسلامية الأخلاقية.

This paper was presented to the fourth international conference on Islamic medicine held in Kuwait during the period 09-13 November 1986. This paper investigates the issue of consanguineous marriage by paying attention to scientific information provided by genetics and religious information provided by the prophetic traditions. The author concludes that consanguineous marriage should not be seen, in principle, as something harmful from a scientific point of view or reprehensible from an Islamic ethical perspective.
