This paper was presented to the fourth international conference on Islamic medicine held in Kuwait during the period 9-13 November 1986. This paper handles the topic of physical and mental health from an Islamic ethical and philosophical perspective. Extensive references were made to the works of early Muslim physicians, philosophers and religious scholars.
