يتناول البحث الأحكام الشرعية المتعلقة بالهندسة الوراثية ويتكون من مبحثين رئيسيين: التعريف بعلم الوراثة والهندسة الوراثية؛ ومجالات استخدام الهندسة الوراثية وأحكامها الشرعية فيما يتعلق بتشخيص الأمراض؛ العلاج وصناعة الدواء؛ التدخل في العملية الوراثية من أجل زيادة وتحسين الإنتاج النباتي والحيواني وكذلك تعديل الصفات الوراثية للإنسان واختيار جنس الجنين.

The chapter discusses the sharia-based rules pertaining to genetic engineering. It consists of two main sections: definition of genetics and genetic engineering; and applications of genetic engineering and related sharia-based rulings pertaining to: disease diagnosis; medication and drug manufacture; genetic intervention to increase and enhance agricultural and animal products; human genetic modification; and sex preselection.
