The book discusses the authority of DNA fingerprinting and its use for verification according to both Islamic jurisprudence and positive law with reference to several Arab and international legial systems. It consists of eight main chapters: reality of DNA fingerprinting; history of the discovery of DNA fingerprinting; sharia-based ruling pertaining to DNA fingerprinting; sources of DNA fingerprinting and methods used for its analysis; legal and sharia-based characterization of DNA fingerprinting; scientific applications of DNA fingerprinting; problems raised by the use of DNA fingerprinting for verification; new jurisprudential issues that DNA fingerprinting opens.
