يتتبع البحث آراء الفقهاء حول مدد الحيض والحمل والنفاس. وترجع أهمية التحديد الدقيق لهذه المدد إلى ارتباطهم بالقدرة على أداء العديد من العبادات مثل الصلاة والصوم. ويقارن البحث بين آراء الفقهاء القدامى في ضوء المعرفة الطبية الحديثة ويخلص إلى أنه في ضوء عدم وجود أدلة نصية قطعية في هذا الشأن فإن التحديد الدقيق لهذه المدد ينبغي أن يعتمد على الإجتهاد الراجح الذي لا يناقض الآراء الطبية المعتمدة.

The article explores the views of classical Muslim jurists on the duration of menstruation, pregnancy, and postnatal bleeding. The exact determination of these periods is important for their various implications especially on the performance of several ritual obligations such as prayer and fasting. The article compares these classical views in light of modern medical knowledge and concludes that in the absence of definitive scriptural indication, the exact determination of these durations depends largely on independent legal reasoning, which should be guided by reliable medical opinions.
