يتضمن هذان المجلدان أعمال الندوة الدولية التي عقدتها المنظمة الإسلامية للعلوم الطبية في القاهرة خلال الفترة 6-9 فبراير 2006. وقد تم تنظيم هذا المؤتمر بالتعاون مع المكتب الإقليمي لشرق المتوسط التابع لمنظمة الصحة العالمية والمنظمة الإسلامية للتربية والعلوم والثقافة (الإيسيسكو) ومجلس المنظمات الدولية للعلوم الطبية. تم دعوة عدد كبير من علماء اليهودية والمسيحية والإسلام إلى جانب مفكرين علمانيين للمشاركة في حوار مع بعضهم البعض حول موضوعات مختلفة منها علم الوراثة والتشخيص الجيني والتكاثر البشري والجينوم البشري والخلق والطبيعة وأطفال الأنابيب وإجراء التجارب على الخلايا الجذعية والبصمة الوراثية.

This two-volume publication is based on the proceedings of the international seminar held by the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) in Cairo during the period 6-9 February 2006. This symposium was organized in cooperation with the Regional Office for the East Mediterranean, World Health Organization (WHO), the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), and the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS). A great number of religious scholars from Judaism, Christianity and Islam besides secularist intellectuals were summoned to conduct a dialogue with each other on different topics including genetics, genetic diagnosis, human reproduction, the human genome, cloning, creation, nature, test tube babies, stem cell research and DNA.
