يتضمن هذا المجلد أعمال الحلقة النقاشية التي عقدتها المنظمة الإسلامية للعلوم الطبية في الكويت خلال الفترة 3-4 مايو من عام 2000. وتعد هذه الحلقة النقاشية امتدادا لأعمال الندوة التي عقدتها المنظمة في الكويت حول الوراثة والهندسة الوراثية والعلاج الجيني خلال الفترة 13-15 أكتوبر 1998. تركزت أعمال الحلقة النقاشية حول الأبعاد الأخلاقية والفقهية للبصمة الوراثية. وقد قام الفقيه المصري سعد الدين هلالي بكتابة البحث الرئيسي والذي عالج جوانب مختلفة لموضوع البصمة الوراثية من منظور الفقه الإسلامي. وقد أعقب قراءة البحث نقاشات مستفيضة حول بين الفقهاء المشاركين محتوى البحث. وقد قام المشاركون بصياغة عدد من التوصيات الختامية التي تضمنها هذا المجلد.

This publication is based on a workshop held by the Islamic organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) in Kuwait during the period 3-4 May 2000. This workshop is a continuation of the proceedings of the IOMS symposium on genetics, genetic engineering, human genome and gene therapy which was held in Kuwait during the period 13-15 October 1998. The workshop focused exclusively on discussing the Islamic juristic and ethical dimensions of the DNA. The main paper presented during this workshop was written by the Egyptian religious scholar Saʻd al-Dīn Musʻad Hilālī which handled different aspects of the DNA from the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence. The paper was followed by extensive discussions on its content among the participating religious scholars. The participants in the workshop drafted a number of final declarations which were included in this publication.
