عقدت المنظمة الإسلامية للعلوم الطبية ندوة في الكويت حول الرؤى الإسلامية المتعلقة بالإيدز والمشاكل الاجتماعية المرتبطة به وذلك أثناء الفترة 6-8 ديسمبر من عام 1993. وقد ناقش المشاركون في الندوة من فقهاء وأطباء عددا من القضايا المختلفة من بينها الرعاية الصحية لمرضى الإيدز وأدائهم لشعيرة الحج والعلاقة الزوجية حال إصابة أحد الزوجين بالإيدز والإجهاض بالنسبة للأم المصابة بالإيدز والمسؤولية الجنائية لمن يتعمد إصابة الآخرين يالإيدز. وقد ذيِّل هذا الإصدار الموسع بعدد من التوصيات الختامية.

The Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) held a symposium in Kuwait on the Islamic perspectives pertinent to AIDS and its social problems during the period 6-8 December 1993. The participating Muslim religious scholars and medical scientists discussed different issues including health care for AIDS patients and their performance of the Islamic pilgrimage (hajj), the marital relationship if one of the couple was infected with AIDS, abortion for the mother infected with AIDS, the criminal liability of AIDS patients who deliberately infect other people. This voluminous publication was appended by final recommendations.
