تم تقديم هذا البحث إلى المؤتمر العالمي الثاني عن الطب الإسلامي المنعقد في الكويت في شهر مارس من عام 1982. رسم المؤلف الخطوط العريضة لرؤيته عن كيفية التكامل بين الأخلاق الإسلامية والتعليم الطبي. ففي البداية ينبغي أن يتلقى طلاب الطب تعليما يتعلق بالعلوم الإسلامية الأساسية في المدارس الابتدائية والعليا. وفي كليات الطيب ينبغي أن يتلقوا مستوى متقدما من التعليم في هذه العلوم الإسلامية. وفي الختام قدم المؤلف قائمة من 26 من العلوم الطبية و ثمانية موضوعات إسلامية ينبغي أن يتكاملا معا.

This paper was presented to the second international conference on Islamic medicine held in March 1982 in Kuwait. The paper gave seven characteristics on the basis of which a medical textbook can be labeled 'Islamic' even if this word does not exist in its title: 1) reviewing the historical background and development of a particular field in medicine and reflecting the contributions of Muslim physicians, if any, 2) presenting the various scientific facts as the manifestation of creation and knowledge of God, 3) recognizing and stressing the divine laws to which all created matter is subjected, 4) presenting the most up-to-date medical approaches and techniques besides those of the ancient physicians especially the Muslim ones, 5) reviewing all medical approaches and techniques in light of Islamic philosophy and attitude in general, 6) accepting or rejecting any approach or opinion should be based on Islamic standards of ethics and 7) all information presented should be complemented with some idea about its practical application or the potentiality of this application.
