تم تقديم هذا البحث إلى المؤتمر العالمي الأول عن الطب الإسلامي المنعقد في الكويت خلال الفترة 12-16 يناير 1981. ويناقش البحث قضية زواج الأقارب من خلال الأثر الإسلامي 'اغتربوا لا تضووا' مشفوعا بشرح بعض المعلومات المتعلقة بعلم الوراثة والتي تتوافق مع الأثر الإسلامي في عدم الحض على زواج الأقارب. وفي نهاية البحث يقدم المؤلف بعض الإحصائيات عن زواج الأقارب في دولة الكويت وعن الأمراض الوراثية الناشئة عن هذا النوع من الزواج.

This paper was presented to the First International Conference on Islamic Medicine held in Kuwait during the period 12-16 January 1981. The paper discusses the issue of consanguineous marriage through the Islamic tradition 'Marry with non-relatives so that [the offspring of] you do not get feeble' espoused with explanation of some related genetic information which coincides with the tradition in discouraging consanguineous marriage. At the end of the paper, the author presents some statistics about consanguineous marriage in Kuwait and the main genetic diseases that this this type of marriage causes.
