This book discusses the topic of need and its effects on jurisprudential rulings, and it consists of two volumes. The first volume contains the first and second sections. The first section discusses the meaning of need, its types, relationship to other related terms, the evidence of considering needs from the Qurān, Sunna and consensus, in addition to the limits and conditions of need and assessing it. The second section discusses the relationship of need to studies on the origin of jurisprudence, Sharia law and studies of evidence; the relationship of need to the objectives of Islamic law, ijtihad (reasoning) and fatwas. The second volume contains the third and fourth sections. The third section deals with the impact of need in reporting jurisprudential rules, in addition to discussing the jurisprudential rules related to need. The fourth section discusses applying need on some contentious issues such as devotional deeds, transactions, marriages and criminal law. It also discusses other issues such as donating and transplanting organs, carrying out cosmetic surgery and photography.
