تم تقديم هذا البحث إلى المؤتمر العالمي الثالث عن الطب الإسلامي المنعقد في الكويت خلال الفترة 28 سبتمبر – 2 أكتوبر 1984. يدرس هذا البحث المواقف المتبناة تجاه المجذومين في الديانات الهندوسية والمسيحية والإسلامية. ويخلص الكاتب إلى القول بأنه على النقيض من وجهات النظر الهندوسية والمسيحية التي تعاملت مع هذا المرض على أنه وصمة عار فإن القرآن والسنة والطب الإسلامي تعاملوا مع هذا المرض كأي مرض عادي آخر.

This paper was presented to the third international conference on Islamic medicine held in Kuwait during the period 28 September-2 October 1984. It examines attitudes towards people with leprosy within the Hindu, Christian and Islamic religions. The author concludes that contrary to the Hindu and Christian perspectives which stigmatized this disease, the Qur’an, Sunna and Islamic medicine approached it as any other normal disease.
