The book discusses the philosophy of ethics. It consists of two main parts. The first part deals with the substantive aspects of ethics and contains thirteen chapters: introduction to ethics; ethics between idealism and realism; ethical reality between absolutism and relativity; heredity and environment and their influence on the constitution of moral character; standard of duty; standard of objectives; standard of perfection; conscience; the higher example; individual and society and their interrelationship; and virtues. The second part deals with the historical dimensions of ethics. It consists of six chapters: ethics in the East; ethics in Greece and Rome; ethics in Christianity; ethics in Islam; ethical philosophy in the modern period; and ethics in contemporary thought.
