تم تقديم هذا البحث إلى الندوة التي عقدتها المنظمة الإسلامية للعلوم الطبية حول علم الوراثة في الكويت خلال الفترة 13-15 أكتوبر من عام 1998. يستعرض المؤلف الطرق المعتبرة لإثبات النسب كما هي مدونة في كتب التراث الفقهي. ويخلص المؤلف إلى القول بأن البصمة الوراثية لابد من ضمها إلى هذه الطرق المعتبرة.

This paper was submitted to the symposium held by the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) in Kuwait during the period 13-15 October 1998 on genetics. The paper gives an overview of the recognized methods for establishing paternity as recorded in the classical manuals of Islamic jurisprudence. The author concludes that DNA fingerprinting should now be integrated into these recognized methods.
