عقدت المنظمة الإسلامية للعلوم الطبية ندوة في القاهرة تحت عنوان 'السياسة الصحية: الأخلاقيات والقيم الإنسانية من منظور إسلامي' وذلك خلال الفترة 24-25 نوفمبر من عام 1988. وقد عقدت هذه الندوة بالتعاون مع مجلس المنظمات الدولية للعلوم الطبية. وقد نشرت الأعمال الكاملة للندوة في هذا المجلد مقسمة إلى جزأين. الجزء الأول بعنوان 'حرمة الحياة الإنسانية' ناقش عدد من المواضيع منها المشكلات الصحية لمرحلة الشيخوخة وقتل الرحمة ومفهوم الحياة والموت. بينما ركز الجزء الثاني بعنوان 'القيم الإسلامية-الأخلاقيات-السلوك' على تعزيز الصحة من منظور إسلامي. وقد قدم بحثان في الجزء تحليلا لنظرية فرويد من منظور إسلامي.

During the period 24-25 November 1988, the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) held a symposium in Cairo under the title 'Health policy: ethics and human values from an Islamic perspective'. This symposium was held in cooperation with the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS). The full proceedings of this symposium were published in this volume which was divided into two parts. The first part, 'sanctity of human life', deals with different topics such as old-age health problems, euthanasia and the concepts of life and death. The second part, 'Islamic values, ethics and behavior', focuses on promoting health from an Islamic perspective. Two papers in this part analyze Freud's theories from an Islamic viewpoint.
