يتضمن هذا السِّفْر الكبير أعمال الندوة التي عقدتها المنظمة الإسلامية للعلوم الطبية في الكويت أثناء الفترة 23-24 أكتوبر من عام 1989. وتمثل أخلاقيات المهنة الطبية من منظور إسلامي المحور الرئيسي لهذه الندوة. وفي إطار هذا الموضوع العام، تناقش المشاركون في الندوة من فقهاء وأطباء حول العديد من القضايا مثل سر المهنة وماذا يصنع الطبيب عندما يتعارض القانون الوضعي مع الشريعة الإسلامية وبيع الأعضاء وجراحة التجميل والأحكام الفقيهة المتعلقة بالحيض ورتق غشاء البكارة وإجراء الأبحاث على الأجنة. وقد ذُيِّلَ هذا المجلد بعدد من التوصيات الختامية.

This voluminous publication is based on the proceedings of the symposium held by the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) in Kuwait during the period 18-20 April 1987. The focal theme of the symposium was the ethics of the medical profession from an Islamic perspective. Within this broad theme, the participating religious scholars and medical scientists debated different topics such as confidentiality, what a Muslim physician should do if there is a conflict between Islamic religious law and positive law, sale of human organs, plastic surgery, the juristic rulings relevant to menstrual blood, hymen reconstruction and embryo research. The volume is appended by final recommendations.
